In 2005, IPD France developed a service for the French property lending market. The IPD bank loan book benchmarking service covers the following criteria:

• main loan features (type of borrowers, loan duration, level of margin, LTV)
• volume to assess market size and market shares of each bank
• risks related to these loans
• securitised volumes and syndication

The aim with the service is to:

• offer the actors of the property lending market some individual analysis on their activity for each bank
• help banks to compare themselves with other banks (benchmarking)
• realise individual analysis concerning every loan of each bank

For mortgage loans, specific analysis is provided:

• type of products financed with performance
• risk data from the investment databank

Five banks, among major players in France, are currently included in this service: EuroHypo, ING Real Estate Finance, Natixis, Royal Bank of Scotland and Société Générale CIB.
