IPD RealWorld 2011

RealWorld is the UK’s only conference created by investment property researchers, for investment property researchers...
Can we read the market? Turning points, pricing and capital flows
This year's conference focuses on capital markets and turning points. Property has become embedded in the rotation of capital across assets and countries. How does that affect the nature of the asset class? Is property less like property – driven by the traditional analyses of occupational demand, supply and the rental cycle – and more like equities – driven by investor sentiment and capital flow?
Predicting turning points in market pricing has become the Holy Grail for property researchers. But can we even spot a turning point when we reach it? RealWorld 2011 will help you identify the tell-tale signs by investigating what drives markets and debating which are the most relevant and predictable indicators of those forces. We will bring together top-drawer researchers, academics and practitioners to discuss with you how occupational and capital markets come together in the pricing process – and how these dynamics have evolved through the latest stage of the property cycle. The event focuses particularly on the globalisation of capital markets, asking whether this revolution in the real estate asset class has made turning points more or less difficult to predict.
