Following a successful pilot study launched in 2000, IPD officialy launched a service in Italy by established a service an Italian Benchmarking and Portfolio Analysis Service in 2002. The service offers comparisons between a client’s performance and a peer group as a whole ("the benchmark"). In addition to these comparative reports, IPD also provides access to "D-PAS" (Desktop Portfolio Analysis Service) - a Windows based application allowing detailed fund and benchmark analysis, as well as training courses.

Over the last five years the IPD Italian Databank has grown to cover 24% of the property investment market, with about 1000 properties, forming a total value of about €14 billion. In order to check the accuracy of data used to build the Italian Index we have developed a Valuation Committee which is represented by all the major valuers and surveyors of the Italian property market.
